A very rare UK delivered, RHD Porsche 356A T1 Cabriolet which has been subject to a fully documented nut and bolt concours restoration by the respected 356 specialists, Export 56, in 2012.
A genuine matching-numbers car presented with a history file dating back to 1956. The car was completed at Stuttgart, Zuffenhausen in September 1956 and supplied new as a Right Hand Drive model via AFN Limited, Isleworth. It was originally presented with Aquamarine Metallic Blue (5607) body colour and tan leather interior. The car still supports its original colour combination.
Registered in the UK on the 01.11.1956, the car was retained by its first owner, Mr R. C Tatchell of Surrey until November 1972. Two further changes of ownership took place during the late seventies and eighties eventually ending up in the hands of a Mr. Baciu from Newark. After many years of daily use on English roads the car was eventually laid up in the mid 90’s. In 2009, Export 56 purchased the car as a running restoration project and restored the car over a 3 year period.
The car underwent a meticulous ground-up restoration and mechanical rebuild. The body has been completely stripped, chemically dipped and rebuilt with all new metalwork including; floors, longitudinals front and rear clips, door skins etc. We carried out a full engine and gearbox rebuild, new brakes, suspension, wiring loom, rubber seals, all new external trim and light units. The interior has undergone a full retrim in tan leather with a new dark blue hood and tan carpet set. A fully documented Export 56 restoration file is supplied with the car.
In 2012 the car was sold to a Mr R Stanley and shipped to Hong Kong where it has since been used by Porsche HK as a showpiece to wow visitors at their headquarters.
This car has been restored regardless of cost and represents a rare opportunity to acquire an extremely rare RHD Porsche 356A T1 Cabriolet in outstanding condition throughout, complete with, original registration documents, comprehensive history and fully detailed Export 56 restoration file.
