This factory-built Chesil Speedster can only be described with superlatives. It truly is a sight to be hold and the attention it garners is like nothing I’ve driven before – loved by men, women and children alike.
This Deluxe 2+2 should not be confused with others on the market. This is a premium quality car that unlike most, was not built by a bearded man in a shed, but by the Chesil factory itself in 2005.
Since build, the car has belonged to the same owner (an engineer), who specified the car in an extremely rare and tasteful colour combination of Topaz paintwork, ivory leather with chocolate roof and carpets.
During his ownership, the car has been extremely well cared for, having been kept in a dehumidified garage and regular servicing as demonstrated within its paperwork.
Barely having seen rain, the car has covered approximately 18,000 miles since its build 13 years ago, and has been serviced 11 times in that period. All old MOTs are also present.
Being the Deluxe 2+2 replica of the famous Porsche 356 Speedster, means that the hood frame can be folded in two ways, one of which reveals the leather-clad rear seats – a rare and sought-after option making the car much more versatile.
Also of note, the car has wind-up windows rather than the uglier and fiddly bolt-on alternatives.
Looking around the car, it really is stunning. The ivory interior is blemish free. The paintwork is beautiful.
More akin to a new car, the underside of the car’s condition is equally amazing to its street-level appearance.
With independent rear suspension and a hand-built Arnie Levics 1800cc air-cooled engine, the car is more than adequate for modern driving. Fourth gear and 3,500 revs will see you moving along at over 80mph, with additional power left in reserve.
All chrome work is like new with no tarnishing, rust or pitting. Four new tyres were fitted less than 2,000 miles ago.
The car is correctly registered on its V5 as a Chesil Speedster. Due to new DVLA rules regarding historic vehicles (May 2016), the car is now exempt from both MOT and Road Tax.
