The sublime DBS was Aston Martin's flagship car of the day, and this car is 1 of only 31 RHD/UK-supplied DBS ‘Carbon Black’ Volante examples.
Unique to the Carbon Black Edition model is bespoke Carbon Black metallic paintwork, which required 50 man-hours of hand-painting. The inner edges of the polished 20-inch alloys are black gloss. Contrasting this are Magnum Silver mesh bonnet and wing vents, with carbon fibre rear diffuser, front splitters and wing mirror arms. Swathes of Obsidian black leather with silver stitching adorn the interior, with Piano Black fascia and centre console. Unique carbon fibre plaques sit atop the door sills. With a mighty 510bhp 6.0-litre V12, the superb paddle-shift Touchtronic gearbox comes as standard, as do carbon-ceramic brakes.
There is something deeply satisfying about the way the DBS gathers pace; once it’s gained momentum, the 12 cylinders fire the DBS towards the horizon, leaving a deep-chested growl from the exhausts in its wake. Press the ‘Sport’ button and select the firmer damper setting, and the car can be threaded through corners at quite a pace.
When new, the Carbon Black Edition’s asking price seemed steep on paper, but as always with an Aston, it feels more exceptional than simply the sum of its parts. This is a special edition that lives up to its promise.
Condition-wise, the car presents beautifully. From the blemish-free paintwork, to the unmarked wheels, and the interior that only shows minimal patina, this really is a car that belies both its age and mileage.
It also benefits from an expensive Media Centre upgrade, supplied and fitted by the renowned Aston Installations. This gives full AndroidAuto/CarPlay integration, media streaming, front and rear cameras, bluetooth connectivity and upgrades the disappointingly dated standard system with modern day graphics on the pop-up screen.
Delivered new by Aston Martin, Hatfield in March 2011, it’s only ever been serviced with Aston Martin, and was last serviced only 1,000 miles ago at 57,850 miles in October 2023.
Now showing 58,800 miles, this superb GT car will be supplied with 2 keys, full service history, Aston Martin book pack, AM umbrella, a 12-month market-leading extendable warranty and will be subject to our rigorous Pre-Delivery Inspection prior to release.
