1997 (R) Bentley Continental T

The Bentley Continental T is a rare and special beast, manufactured in Crewe between 1996 and 2002 with just 322 cars produced worldwide and cost an eye-watering £234,000 plus options when it was new.

The 'T' differs from the 'R' with a shorter, sportier wheelbase and an increase in BHP from 400 to 420, but more significantly with 650lbs foot torque - the highest of any road car at the time and higher even than any F1 car from the 1997 season when the "T' was introduced. 

We believe this particular car to be exceptionally rare having been specified in the contemporary colour combination of Triple Black, with gleaming Black Sapphire Pearl, full black hide and piano black interior trim, setting it apart from many of the dated specifications for sale today.

Supplied by Jack Barclay Ltd, and delivered in December 1997, the car is quite a sight to behold with the Mulliner coachwork boasting flared wheel arches that give the car a muscular stance over its silver 18 inch 5 spoke alloys. Move to the interior and you’re greeted by a magnificence that is truly Bentley - the seats have the optioned Mulliner stitching on barely worn-in seats, the dashboard is adorned with a plethora of dials evoking that of a fighter cockpit surrounded by piano black wood, piped leather roof lining, wool carpeting and the famous red starter button.

On the move, this quintessential luxury machine pampers the driver in an old-world manner, with supple and sweetly aromatic leather, near-silent operation, and a visual and tactile treasure trove of hand-polished chrome switch gear. The car is equipped with air conditioning, electric seats, drilled alloy pedals, period cassette radio with 10-disc CD player and a Motorola ‘Yuppie phone' in the centre arm-rest.

The car has covered a mere 56,000 miles from new, and with just four owners.

The car was SORN in dry storage as part of a car collection between 2013 and 2020, but still boasts a service history of 13 stamps with the last service completed approximately 900 miles ago.
