1990 (G) BMW Z1 2.5I

With its famously unique bodywork where the vertically sliding doors drop into the door sills, the BMW Z1 is a rare sight on UK roads with a mere 54 cars purported to be UK-registered.

 

Under the bonnet is a 2.5-litre straight-six engine, producing 168bhp, which is delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox. 

 

This particular Z1 is finished in Top Red, with a recently replaced black soft-top, and a Grey Alcantara interior with Dark Camouflage leather inlays.

 

This Z1 is not to be confused with others available on the market - it is simply exquisite! With only one previous UK owner, the second owner purchased the car in 2006. This second owner held a senior management position at Sytner BMW, giving the car a very interesting past. Records prove that the car was very seldom used during his ownership, adding a meagre 6k miles between 2006 and 2013 attending BMW events, after which the car was then SORN.

 

In 2018, after being given a thorough recommissioning service by Sytner Nottingham, the car was put back on the road before being placed in Sytner Sheffield’s showroom as their centre piece for the last 4 years.

 

Once in our possession, we have undertook a rigorous recommission of the car, and under inspection we decided to fully rebuild the engine using OEM parts (photographed throughout). Included within the rebuild, we also replaced the alternator, oil cooler, battery, and radiator. The result is a Z1 that is mechanically perfect, with an engine that is totally new, negating the recorded mileage and previous service history, while ensuring total peace-of-mind for the new owner.
