1970 (J) Land Rover Series II A

This 1970 88” home-market. 2.25 petrol Suffix G, has undergone a 4-year transformation from an honest unmolested vehicle to be the truly amazing vehicle you see here today. Never has the term ‘nut and bolt’ restoration been more apt.

To maintain originality where it counts, this sympathetic restoration included refitting most of the original parts or replacing with genuine OEM items. A lot of the original hardware was stripped and re plated. Every nut bolt and washer. No stone left unturned. No expense spared.

Most importantly, it sits on a brand new Richard’s galvanized chassis with a new galvanized bulkhead.

Every Suspension and braking component has been stripped, blasted, powdercoated/re-plated, then reassembled with new OEM parts where required, including new bearings, seals & swivels, and leaf springs with girling shocks added. The axles still bear the chassis number on the casing. New OEM propshafts attach to rebuilt front & rear differentials. The Steering Box is rebuilt with new steering relay and ball joints. The original matching engine has been rebuilt with new genuine pistons, rings, bearings and oem gasket set, and includes a new Weber carburettor, new Radiator (retaining the original surrounds and guards), new Hoses, Alternator, OEM exhaust, Battery, and Starter Motor.

The gearbox is a genuine Land Rover Service original 2A non-synchro replacement still retaining its Gold Land Rover tag, serviced by a new OEM clutch kit, and a Fairy overdrive to help with modern traffic.

The body was taken apart, soda blasted, assessed, and each panel individually painted inside and out in the original colour of Mid Grey, before reassembly, retaining all original panels bar replacing the Doors and Outer Front Wing Skins for new. The original cappings and galvanized parts were re-galvanized, with new Glass, Seals, and OEM lights added.

The dashboard, instruments and levers have been refurbished and give a 'new-ish old' feel to the interior with the seating superbly retrimmed in the original elephant hide grey.

The new canvas tilt & sticks gives all weather options, whilst the new limestone painted wheels have been shod with new OEM 600x16 tyres giving it the original look as intended.

This superb Land Rover S2A is supplied with original tool kit, jack and accessories, wheel brace, and starting handle.

Accompanied by a plethora of historical documents including the original bill of sale, a 12-month market-leading extendable warranty and the car will be further subjected our rigorous Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI).
